Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), is a regulatory
body in India which governs and oversees the food related businesses in
specific to their quality and standards of production process across the

It’s necessary that any Food Business Operator (FBO) in India, should
register with the FSSAI in order to perform the business and has to ensure that
the procedures, rules and the regulations laid down by the latter is adhered

As any food business would involve Manufacturing, Processing, Packaging,
Storage, Distribution, Wholesale and Retail Sales. It is mandatory that, at
every step the food product passes with the appropriate quality parameters in

The FSSAI Registration is issued depending on the nature of food
business, premises of operation, Machinery Installations and areas of service.
Depending on the eligibility criteria a food business can be registered under

FSSAI Registration Certificate
This is a basic registration done by any small food business operator

Registration Fee INR 100 / Year
Renewal Fee INR 100 / Year

FSSAI Central License
The Central License is for a food business operator with turnover above
₹20 Crore and the operating location catering across more than one state.
Fee Structure for FSSAI Central License
New License Fee INR 7500 / Year
License Renewal Fee INR 7500 / Year
Modification of License INR 7500 per modification
Duplicate Certificate 10% of applicable license fee. [Also

The license can be issued or renewed to a maximum of 5 years.

FSSAI State License
The State License is issued for a Food Business Operator with operations
within a State and the turnover between ₹12 Lakh to ₹20 Crore.
Fee Structure for FSSAI State License
New License Fee for less than 1MT of Production INR 3000 / Year
New License Fee for more than 1MT of Production INR 5000 / Year
All other Food Service Provider INR 2000 / Year
License Renewal Fee depends on the number of years the renewal is
applied.
Modification of License is the fees for 1 Year per modification
