Why Agarwood Tree Plantation is Costly?
The tree is used for extracted perfume which is called agar, we usually use in fragrance industry, I is more costly than sandalwood because of the smell and extraction of oil but it's not that much easy to extract oil and quick earning. One should wait 9 to 12 years to get the profit from the tree. After 10th year a fungus disease will attack the agarwood on that time, the tree produce gum /gel type substance to protect from
the fungus. That gum is used to extract oil and hard chips will be used

Some of the countries will follow the inoculation method to extract the oil from the tree. The Plantation method is simple, first we need to test the soil and check the suitability .Mostly the tree will grow well in cold climate like Pollachi, Coimbatore,Ooty and Kodaikonal.Water is a vital for this cultivation, so we can use drip irrigation method by getting subsidy from Tamilnadu Government.
